"What do I want? I've come to take your life!"This is one of the more unique and hilarious romances I've read. Any story that begins with the hero pointing a gun at the heroine, only to surprise her with a flower and a proposal is setting up for something out of the ordinary. Riko Kunimi has superhuman abilities that are just far enough above average to wow me, and yet just mild enough to keep her from comic book hero status. Part of what makes her real is her desire to hide these abilities so t [...]

I have to say while this manga is titled Flower in a Storm here on , I was not able to find it under that name elsewhere. It just happens though that through all the mangas I've read that I've picked up a few words. Like flower = hana, which lead to the name I found this under. Hana ni Arashi What the summery here doesn't tell you is the Riko has an unordinary ability of being super flexible and strong. As such and due to an incident that I won't spoil, Riko strives for an ordinary life as an or [...]

    3. Mary says:

"That man swept into my life like a storm."Riko has super human strength. She's just trying to "fit in" but Japan's richest teen, Ran, bursts into her class to marry her.As any girl would (hopefully do) Riko is pissed at this guy claiming her like an object. She ditches his butt only for him to announce that she has until the clock on her school tower strikes five the next day for him to give up on her.Only for the clock to break and thus, her time limit is nonexistent. It starts out fantastic. B [...]

I loved this one! Loved it! It was so sweet that it borded on giving out cavities. Don't get me wrong, I have read plenty rich boy loves "common" girl, stalks her, faces peril, and has feelings eventually returned. Having said that, I didn't feel as if I was reading the same old same old. But what I don't get is that Ran holds himself in a way that yukuza are often depicted. Why didn't anyone call him on it?Anyway- this is one ball of fluff I wouldn't mind having again.

    5. Hibari Hanana *(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ* says:

It was a really cute story with a nice storyline, but Riko didn't seem to use her superpowers that often, which sort of was a downfall. But overall, this story is cute and peppy. I definitely would recommend this to avid manga readers.

    6. Hadiqa says:

**Contains Spoilers** I have fanned several manga pages on instagram and I always save the ones that I see are completed. Among those, I found Hana ni Arashi. With the description provided, I was intrigued and wanted to know what kind of a different girl Riko was. Ran looks much more mature for his age, but he acts like a highschool boy smitten by Riko. I laughed so hard at Riko's efforts to appear as a normal girl, but a famous businessman's son comes barging into the classroom with a gun point [...]

    7. Teetee says:

3.5 stars, I rather liked this series overall.

    8. Rhenda says:

pretty funny but it was a bit off putting reading constant recaps of how they met every chapter.

    9. Kristin El says:

It was trying too hard to be like Alias. Not that entertaining.

    10. Alya Atiera says:

      It's really interesting!

    11. Schnekk says:

Awful. I want to be able to read this, because the art is cute and it looks like the female lead is strong (?) but, yeesh, what can I do with such shallow characters?

    12. Katy says:

Loved it! It reads almost like a parody of manga stereotypes. Here's rich and handsome Ran, with the usual sense of entitlement that comes with being a romantic lead, convinced he can easily seduce our plucky, pure heroine Riko, marry her and control her life. Riko is just trying to be ordinary and doesn't really welcome his attentions, though sometimes when he's sweet there's a 'doki-doki' moment and she wonders if she's falling for it. Along comes Mr Bad Guy Tsuushiyo "Assassin" Akage(Assassin [...]

    13. Adrienne says:

Riko Kunimi is just a normal 17 year old girl, who happens to have super reflexes. She can leap unharmed from the third story window of her school, and dodge speeding cars, and all this makes her even more determined to be as normal as normal can be. Years ago she was dumped by her crush for being a 'freak', leaving her with a burning to desire to be as 'normal' and 'ordinary' as possible. This is made quite difficult by the sudden appearance of Ran Tachibana, 17 year old heir to a global fortun [...]

    14. Konstantina_pap says:

Read full review at: thereadingarmchairThe story of Flower in a Storm wasn't that original. A rich boy came out of the blue and demanded to marry the protagonist. Everything happened so quickly that I was perplexed on how he met her and fell for her. They hadn't met before this incident, there wasn't a family connection, they basically lived in different worlds. Of course, an explanation is offered in the manga, but it wasn't satisfying enough. If there were a better one, the story would have be [...]

R to L (Japanese Style). Love is like a storm. Riko Sassoku is trying to lead a normal high school life when Ran Tachibana bursts into her classroom carrying a gun and telling her that her life is now his. Ran, the richest, most powerful 17-year-old in Japan wants her as his wife, and he's not taking no for an answer! If Ran can't capture her by five o'clock the next day, he'll give up on her, but he has all that money can buy at his disposal. However, Riko has one trick up her sleeve--she has su [...]

    16. Miranda says:

Loved the artwork overall, loved the storyline, loved Ran- the only thing I didn't love was Riko's "superpowers". I think it's a great idea, but I'm disappointed that she was completely helpless most of the volume. I mean, if you have superpowers, you have superpowers! And when Riko did kick and jump the artwork was really choppy. Plus Riko was a bit annoying at times when she'd spazz out about wanting to be normal. (This is the only reason that I didn't give it 4 stars, and I'm still wavering o [...]

    17. Rhapsody says:

Riko is a high school girl, ordinary except for what the story refers to as her unnatural "flexibility" but more accurately is incredible agility, strength, and reflexes. After being dumped by her former boyfriend for being different, she's become obsessed with just being an ordinary girl and is in denial about her abilities. Ran, a gorgeous stranger, shows up one day asking her to marry him. He later explains that they met once, when he nearly killed her with his car but she just hopped up out [...]

    18. Freefallen ~ YA Reviewer says:

I really wanted to like this I was really excited to read it when I first heard about it; the plotline is great, and the artwork is pretty. However, one of the things this series lacks the most is impact. The size of some of the panels downplays the more important features, and highlights the lesser ones; this also makes the pacing very jumpy, and I had a bit of a hard time trying to follow along with the story.Character development is also very jumpy. It's hard at times to understand how the ma [...]

    19. Lara says:

Totally over the top and ridiculous, and even somewhat disturbing if you really think about it, but somehow still amusing. Ran Tachibana is sort of like a cross between Kyoya and Tamaki of Ouran High School Host Club--obscenely rich and somewhat ruthless about getting what he wants, but also abnormally innocent. Despite all his over-obsessive, stalkery behavior, he still manages to be kind of endearing. That's the thing about manga though--somehow behaviors that would be totally unattractive and [...]

    20. Reader17 Der says:

I liked this story. It is about Riko who is trying to lead a normal life. She is one girl that seems to have extra strength and can do just about anything. One day in school Ran bursts into her classroom and tells her that she is now his. He wants her to be his wife. This book had me smiling and laughing at some of the things Ran does to try to get Riko to say yes that she will marry him. I love her one classmate. He is bald and cracks me up he is always making some kind of comment to her that ma [...]

    21. Christina says:

I was in the mood for a contemporary shoujo romance, so I gave this one a try. On one hand, I couldn't help being rather uncomfortable with treating the female lead as a possession to SUCH an extent and that feeling never really left. On the other, Ran did have moments of genuine concern and affection that eventually endeared him to me. I wish this series was a little longer, so some of the supporting cast could have been more fleshed out. As it is, the "rivals" were barely walk-ons. In the end, [...]

    22. Becky says:

I'm torn! I love the art. I love the premise. I love the superfluous helicopters and car chases and explisions. But the characters? I guess I just have to wait until I get to know them better. So far, Ran's only two personality traits are (1) instant and unshakable devotion to Riko and (2) being stupid rich. And Riko? She's immensely talentedd hates herself for it? #whatisthisidontI also need to know why Ran is the target of assassins and over-the-top revenge schemes. Yeah, he's rich, but what d [...]

    23. Wirya says:

As it is comic book, the story is a bit strange. Nevertheless, I like it. Nice drawing, storyline is ok.The heroine is blessed with body flexibility, that she could master martial art so easily (apparently without anyone teaching her). The hero is the heir of the multibillionaire, who was 17 years old but dealt with the company operational and business already. They met on an accident and because the hero's life was always in danger, meeting a girl (who he claimed like an angel) who could self-def [...]

    24. Amy says:

I actually liked this quite a bit, but it felt jumpy and the drawings weren't the best (I had a problem with some of the proportions). Ran reminded me of a mix between the main character in Special A and the "dog" from Fruits Basket. I liked that Riko had an unusual gift, but she dwelled on the being "normal" a lot (probably for the serial, but it felt more repetitive than usual). So, fun, but it needed more work and more plot development.

    25. Dian says:

Riko adalah gadis yg punya fleksibilitas tinggi yg artinya dia punya kemampuan yg luar biasa Tp dia ngotot bahwa dirinya adalah gadis yg biasa2 saja Bahkan dia punya mimpi akan menjalani hidupnya scr biasa2 sajaSuatu hari datanglah Ran,anak konglomerat yg tiba2 melamarnya Riko terus menolak,tp Ran pun tdk pernah menyerah Gimana kelanjutannya?? Well, baca sendiri^^Yg bikin aku ngakak itu malah ketua kelasnya Si botak^^ aih Lucunya si botak, walo dia jarang keluar^^

    26. honestly mem says:

Occasionally charming, at times amusing, even momentarily affirming, Flower in a Storm is ultimately unable to compensate for its horrid premise (boy meets girl, boy falls in love with girl, boy stalks girl, no one helps or supports girl, girl eventually succumbs to boy's attentions: a comedy). This likely deserves only the one star, but I did find a number of the explosion-related gags hilarious and I love Riko fiercely, so.

    27. Ann says:

Cute, funny, and with at least one good unexpected twist. The art is immediately recognizable as 'Hana to Yume' art, but I like that style. The only thing I wish is that they'd let their 'superpowered' heroine actually do more than the occasional back flip. She spends most of the volume helpless. But, unfortunately that's pretty typical for a heroine, even an action heroine in shojou manga. Other than that it was cute fun, and I look forward to reading the second volume.

    28. Dyah says:

This manga is funny :))I love the two main characters. Riko is so lucky to be loved by Ran! heheh though that insta-love is kinda weird. The plot is simpleThe pace is sometimes slow, sometimes fast, and I feel like the scenes are jumping from one to another, not flowing smoothly. Still, the story is sweet :)

    29. CJ - It's only a Paper Moon says:

A cute shojo about a boy who randomly meets a girl who possesses superior strength and agility and decides he wants to marry her. Did I mention that he's a rich business man?She just wants to be normal, he just wants to love her. It's a zany adventure between these two hearts. Who will win? Can they both?

    30. Robin Conley says:

The men in this manga are really feminine, but overall it was an okay story. The story is interesting and the art was okay too, I think this manga was just girlier than the ones I've been reading. I'm curious to see where it goes mostly and I think it was a cute story overall.
