In which Eunice sees the beginnings of where her parent's marriage went wrong.***But seriously, tho':Probably the only self-help/dating/relationship book I've ever read that hasn't made me want to tear out my uterus and slap the author in the face with it.This book is great - it's dealing with the hard-hitting issues that 21st C women face, and also has heaps about challenging gender stereotypes and shows how those concepts of feminine and masculine behaviour are outdated and irrelevant.I was af [...]

    2. Melwolf777gmail.com says:

I think the marketing of this book is overly aggressive, so they are trying to squash reviewers and critics, who warn alpha women against this ridicules book. "The Alpha Woman Meets Her Match" is a shallow pop-psychology book. The stereotypical description of alpha people is crude, primitive and do not match alphas in the real world. Strong women and weak men is always a toxic combination, because the beta male will feel emasculate, while the alpha woman will resent her lesser partner. The beta [...]

    3. David says:

maybe 1.5 or event 2 stars. not horrible, just seemed light -- take this face valid quiz and find out what one of two types of people you are, and then a lot of vignettes from her clinical practice with women or couples to illustrate mostly unobjectionable but also obvious advice.I did learn one new label, which was "omega men", apparently referring to all-around losers with whom the woman should never get involved.

    4. Katrina says:

This was a good book. It had a lot of good info that helped me to see what should have been obvious in my life. It will be part of my collection I will reference again in the future.

Check out my blog to see Reviews of Books and Movies as well as Recipes and DIY projectsThe Alpha Woman Meets Her Match is written by Dr. Sonya Rhodes and is somewhat of a new approach to relationship help. I was immediately interested in reading this book when I saw that the cover also stated: “How today’s strong women can find love and happiness without settling.” As a woman who has crossed the threshold of 30, I often wonder if I will ever find a partner in life, and as much as it would [...]

Read for Review (William Marrow)Overall Rating: 3.50Self-Help Rating: 3.00Commentary Rating: 4.00First Thought when Finished: I wasn't sure what to expect from The Alpha Woman Meets Her Match by Sonya Rhodes but overall I found the book fascinating.Self-Help Thoughts: I found a lot of what Sonya wrote on Alpha Women/Beta Men to be pretty on point but a little extreme in examples. I don't consider myself an Alpha Woman, more of a Beta Woman with some Alpha tendencies so most of the advice really [...]

    7. Lucinda Literary says:

Even if you (like me) are wary of nonfiction about dating/relationships, Dr. Sonya Rhodes really seems to be on to something with "The Alpha Woman Meets Her Match." Her message to women is, essentially, that it's wrong to settle for a partner that doesn't compliment your personality and your lifestyle. No one should should rush to couple up for the fear of it becoming "too late" to find the right person. Dr. Rhodes has created an evaluative quiz that measures up the ratio of "alpha" (dominant, a [...]

    8. Lee says:

Good book on dating and relationships. Though I'm married and already found my perfect match, there were still some sections of the book that I could relate to. The test that shows which level of Alpha and Beta you are was helpful. It showed that I made the best choice with my husband, which I knew already, of course, but someone in the dating field could definitely learn some things. The numerous case histories throughout the book were nice to read, because you could learn what the author was t [...]

    9. MeMe Willz says:

Overall I would give this book a great rating but there were certain things I did not like. I liked that it challenged me as an alpha woman to think about ,y partners different and that maybe I can get the power couple without an alpha male. However I found the language to b trite type style of writing but that's just my preference. It would be good if we don't get a make believe scenario for everything. It also felt like the writer was indicating that if we do not get beta men we would be unhap [...]

    10. Julie Salinas says:

I was very curious of the title of this book. The generation today of young people has a very different landscape for dating and relationships than I had when I was younger which is why I wanted to read this book. I think of my daughter as an "alpha" woman. She just graduated law school at the age of 24 and has strong opinions and what she wants for herself. The format is very easy to read, with lots of examples to explain different types of relationships without being judgemental or technical. [...]

    11. Lucinda says:

Don't be misled by the title: this book isn't fluff or pure dating guide, but a larger commentary on the way new gender roles are shaping the way we live, work, and choose our partners. I think all women will see themselves in at least one of the case studies and experience that Eureka moment (at least once!) that will change the way we're approaching marriage and relationships. Dr. Rhodes and Susan Schneider write in such a smart and engaging way, that this book feels a lot more like LEAN IN th [...]

    12. Jessica says:

This book is a really quick read. The title grabbed me and the best thing about it is that it can help you realise whether you're meant for an Alpha or a Beta mate. If you are a really strong, independent woman then I'd agree that a person with more Beta qualities than Alpha ones is probably the best match. This book gives you permission to feel the way you do as an Alpha woman without having to apologise to anyone for it. It also helps you realise what different kinds of men there are out there [...]

    13. Jennifer says:

thank you first reads and the author for letting me win this book.i find this book to give different stereotypes into a relationship between the alpha and beta female and male and what the women needs verses what she desiresis book gives examples of women and how they feel and express an idea of what they are looking for and how they can find the right alpha and beta male to complete their livesis is a powerful tool for all women and maybe even some men who want to learn more themselvese end of [...]

    14. Nicole says:

After high expectations I was left sadly disappointed. This book relies heavily on focus groups and therapy sessions and I felt that many of the examples were shallow at best. I didn't get much out of it, however I concede that this might just be because I'm apparently "high alpha and high beta" and would not have many of the problems explored in the book. Also:"When a couples therapist colludes with one partner in hiding an affair from the other, he is condoning the behaviour and guilty of an et [...]

    15. Amanda Farag says:

An interesting, well thought out book about how different personalities work together. The information was credible and the individual examples, though at times extreme, were fun to compare to one's personal experience. But, for someone who has studied different personalities and human traits in great detail this book did not really offer any new information. So, I would consider this an interesting read for those just beginning to analyze basic human personality traits/interactions but for thos [...]

    16. Nikki says:

I love reading about human behavior, personality traits and relationship advice, and I'm very interested in how therapists work (even once considered becoming one), so when I saw this book at my local library, I just had to check it out. It had a lot of information and I enjoyed reading the real-life examples. I don't have a significant other, but I did try to mentally note certain pieces of advice for future reference :)

    17. Kate White says:

Rhodes strikes a delicate balance presenting a fairly well-crafted theory, providing practical dating advice and sharing salacious examples. Enjoyable read, liked the quiz and will take away a few new insights for my personal life.

    18. Daniell says:

There are many ways to look at/analyze relationships and this is a helpful one. Gave me perspective on why I was dissatisfied in my last relationship in which the guy was probably a low alpha while I'm a mid.

    19. Susan Walker says:

Interesting self help book on single women and dating.

    20. Jennifer Jm says:

Reaffirmed that I should keep my standards and/or expectations!

    21. Sheila Chandler says:

Won this book from a giveaway. I found myself doubting what was written. I read it. I will probably re read it with a more open mind. I just don't agree with some of what was written.
